Student Awards

Our school gives student awards at the end of the school year during awards events and graduation. Other awards may be received by students from other institutions such as the Union Station Science & Engineering Fair. The following are our school policies:

IScGKC Awards Policies*

Honor Roll (1st - 10th Grades)

Students need to have an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher from 1st quarter through 3rd quarter.

Presidential Award (1st - 10th Grades)

The students who scored in the 90th percentile in one or more of the four NWEA MAP tests (Math, Language usage, Reading, or Science) will receive a pin for their high academic achievement.

Quran Competition (1st - 10th Grades)

Students are judged by selected judges. Categories were announced before the Quran Competition.

Union Station Science & Engineering Fair (7th – 12th)

Students are judged by the STEM selected judges at Union Station. Categories are determined by STEM Fair members; and winners can receive Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Special Awards ribbons based on grouped levels and categories.

Community Service (4th - 10th Grades)

To receive this award, students must contribute at least 50 hours of community service and hours must be tracked for specific purposes. Community service opportunities were available by the school to students in 4th grade through 10th grade.

Citizenship Award (6th - 10th Grades)

To receive this award, students must:

  • Possess strength of character and the courage to do what is right.

These students were selected by the votes of their classmates for the “Good Citizenship” award. The scores were tallied and the students with the highest scores were selected by each grade.

Criteria for Nominations for Student of the Quarter (6th-10th Grades)

The administration office reviews each student’s records and checks for any discipline issues, i.e., any unexcused tardies, any dress code writeups, and any discipline writeups.

Teachers of the students’ classes review the criteria and vote on all students who meet the requirements to be nominated for the Student of the Quarter.

Student of the Year (6th-10th Grades)

The PTCA provides the money to purchase a prize for the Student of the Year. All Students of the Quarter names will be selected from a drawing on Awards night for Student of the Year, if they have maintained their “Student of the Quarter” criteria for the entire year. If they received any detention or suspension for tardiness, dress code write-ups, or behavior issues, their name will not be placed in the drawing for the Student of the Year. The student must be present to win.

6th-10th Grade Student of the Year will receive an age-appropriate prize selected by the PTCA, according to funds.

*IScGKC has the right to change the policy according to the needs of the school. In addition, all prizes will depend on funds raised.
